The first non-profit programming academy available for kids in Lithuania.

Sourcery Academy for Kids is Lithuania's first and only free academy dedicated to teaching creative technologies to children aged 7 to 12. Founded in 2016, the academy's mission is to introduce computer literacy to all children, with a particular focus on those in remote areas of Lithuania and facing economic hardship. By targeting young learners, the academy aims to address the gap in primary education programs, which often lack necessary investments in technology education. The program actively encourages girls to explore technology, aspiring to eliminate outdated stereotypes and achieve equal representation of women and men in the computer science field.

Throughout the academic year, children enrolled in Sourcery Academy for Kids study key aspects of programming, including logical concepts, functions, variables, sequences, coordinates, and movement. The curriculum is designed to be engaging and practical, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world projects. Sessions are held year-round on Saturdays, with students breaking into small groups of 7 to 9. Each group receives personalized attention from a dedicated mentor with a technology background, ensuring that each child receives the support they need to succeed.

The academy's education program, accredited by bit&Byte, encourages creativity, curiosity, and other significant skills essential for future professions. This program helps children take their first steps in programming while fostering a love for learning and innovation. Students are exposed to various technologies, including design, electronics, 3D modeling, animation, virtual reality (VR), game development, and software development. This comprehensive approach prepares them for future success in tech industries by developing both their logical and creative thinking.

By providing free access to quality technology education, Sourcery Academy for Kids aims to democratize learning and ensure that all children, regardless of their socio-economic background, have the opportunity to discover the world of coding. The academy not only equips students with technical skills but also inspires them to pursue careers in technology, contributing to a more diverse and inclusive tech industry in the future.

The academy operates in Alytus, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Pasvalys, Plunge, Raseiniai, and Sakiai.

The academy has received President Dalia Grybauskaite’s award “For Contributions to Lithuania”.
